MUSICS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Needless to say, this post shall be of a musical nature.

I adore music much like anyone else on this planet. In fact, you would be hard pressed to find even a single person who doesnt. Kinda makes me want to begin a quest to find such a person.....Anyways, I figured i'd lay out some of the bands/artists I really love. On the opposite end of this, I shall also lay out all those I can't stand. Why will I do this? Because i'm pimp like that.

I can listen to just about anything but my absolute favorite singer would have to be Prince (hence the purple font). Now, almost everyone at some point has heard one of his songs, probably "1999", "Purple Rain" or "Little Red Corvette". Those are the obvious choices and while still very good, I prefer to go for the lesser known songs. Namely, "Anna Stesia", "Bob George", "Gold" or even "Pussy Control". Let's be honest for a moment, Prince pretty much ruled the '80's in terms of music and even film (Purple Rain was one of the highest grossing films of 1984). It was with "Purple Rain" that Prince broke out into the mainstream and began his musical takeover. Interesting factoid, Prince doesn't actually own the publishing rights to a large chunk of his 80's musical output. Actually, Warner Brothers Records screwed him, for lack of a better term. He still fights to this day to have the rights turned over to him.

Another musical hero of mine would have to be Stevie Nicks, frontwoman of the seminal rock group Fleetwood Mac and legendary solo artist. Again, she is one of those artists that kids today sadly don't seem to know about. Let's face it, it's all about being "crunk" or "scene" and nobody cares about decent music anymore.....BUT I digress. Notable songs would include: "Edge Of Seventeen", "Stand Back" "Landslide" (Fleetwood Mac), and countless others I don't feel like mentioning. Interesting fact, Stevie has a rather large hole in her nose from years of cocaine abuse. The hole even affected her singing voice and yet, she is apprehensive to have it corrected.

Moving right along......Tori Amos is my next favorite. For some reason I keep choosing people that most kids have never heard of >.>
Regardless of that, Tori is an amazing songstress and has a number of succesessful songs. These would include but are not limited to: "Crucify", "Winter", "Welcome to England", "Cornflake Girl". Her concerts are notable for her cover versions of other popular songs. She welcomes requests before every show and will play them better than the originals in a lot of cases. Interesting Tori Fact, she was once involved in an electro-pop band called "Y Kant Tori Read" which failed almost as soon as it started. She has even gone so far as to block any potential reissues of the album.

Now for someone i'm sure everyone knows. Madonna Louise Veronica Ciccone or as shes known to most, Madonna. Without a doubt she is my favorite female singer to have ever lived. She is the basis for most if not all modern pop acts *cough* GaGa *cough*. I won't list off her notable songs because I really don't need to because I know you've heard one....or two.......or several. Interesting fact about Madonna, she is the most successful female artist of all time and her 2008-2009 Sticky and Sweet Tour was the highest grossing tour by a solo artist ever.

Okay I could ramble on about what I like musically for days but I think I should end it for now. I will leave you with a short list of what I dislike muscially.

1. Most, if not all, scene kid "bands"/"artists"
2. The fans of Jeffree Star for actually having the balls to say he has any real musical talent.
3. People who don't write their own songs. That REALLY bothers me.
4. People who don't know when they've used too much auto-tune. There is a certain skill to using it that most haven't mastered.
5. People who don't sing live during their shows. This one bothers me more than anything else. It's also the reason i've given up on Britney Spears.

Ok, that really sums it up for now. I'm sure i'll post a part two to this eventually though.

I leave you with a song by Tori Amos called "Welcome to England".
